Cranberries and Lime: Quick and Easy Christmas Decor!

Image
My mom and SIL went to a Christmas home tour a couple of weeks ago.  It's an event that I look forward to every year. While we weren't allowed to take any photos (I know.  WAAAAH!) I did get smart this year and jotted down some of the clever ideas that I saw.  I loved this one -  Cranberries and Lime!  I've long been using cranberries, but the pop of lime struck my fancy.  That bit of chartreuse is my favorite color green and I'm a big fan of simplicity.  If you haven't noticed. Easy Father's Day Decoration Ideas

Image
So maybe this is a bit too easy to be blog-worthy, but I love ideas that are sweet, simple and to the point!  I'm hosting 20 of my favorite in-laws for Father's Day tomorrow and needed to set up three tables.  I've seen edible centerpieces.  Why not drinkable ones? Dad's Root Beer needs no explanation or further ornamentation for the Father's Day theme and I love the fact that they still come in these cute old-fashioned bottles!  These inexpensive centerpieces will do double duty.  After dinner, we'll have Root Beer (Or Orange Cream) Floats for dessert!  Don't forget these cute paper napkins and paper straws from Target! To change things up a bit, put small glass jars inside the cardboard carrier and fill them with wild flowers. I'm also displaying these framed 8 x 10 posters which you can down load HERE and HERE ! HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!

Remodeling the Bathroom - Day 14

Image
In case you've been wondering where I've been all week, here it is.  After twelve years of hem-ing and ha-ing (and the fact that the shower was a mere moments away from springing a leak), we made the spur of the moment decision to remodel our bathroom. They started the next day.  That gave me exactly one day to empty out all of the bathroom cabinets, throw away garbage bags full of products and free samples that I will never use and decide how I was going to exist for the next who-knows-how-many days without my sink, without my shower, and without full accessibility to my closet.  I packed up what I needed (and what was previously stored in all the bathroom drawers and cabinets) into boxes and put them in our bedroom. Ripping out the shower and all the bathroom tile and the countertops and replacing them with something resembling the 21st century was a huge undertaking, but they managed to finished all the tile work by the end of week one. Week Two:  Pain...

Fall Decorating Swap

Image
When it comes to fall decorating, I prefer to leave the skeletons in the closet.  I do, however, like to add a few touches of fall, especially if it means using pieces that I already have on hand.  Take these three hurricane vases, for example. A few quick changes and it was good-bye summer sand and sea shells and hello autumn! As I was strolling through the grocery aisle at Target, contemplating shades of beans, I ran across my friend, The Artist. When I asked her opinion, she immediately picked the black ones. Always go with your Artist Friend's first intuition. She probably hasn't been over-thinking the whole dried bean scenario the way you have. I love the way these turned out.  Fall-ish, but not creepy!  And the warm hues smell as good as they look - Pumpkin Spice, Orange-Clove and Tahitian Vanilla. Here's to turning leaves and crisp, cool nights!   I've been waiting all summer for these perfect October days! THIS P...
