100th Day of School Project (100 Button Shirt)

Our 100th day of school was last week, but then again, it feels like we started school in the middle of the summer!  If your school has a normal start date (like after Labor Day!) your 100th day may be just around the corner!  As is tradition in the younger grades, the 100th Day of School means creating a "100 Day" project, or craft using 100 of something.  This "100 Button Shirt" idea was a such a hit, Arielle decided to make her own - just for the fun of it!

Here's how we made it:
  1. Buy a solid colored t-shirt.
  2. Lay it flat on a table and slip a piece of cardboard inside it.
  3. Arrange all your buttons in a design (monograms are nice!)
  4. Glue the buttons in place using fabric glue.
  5. If you'd like to continue to wear and wash the shirt, I would recommend securing the buttons in place with a single stitch.  (This is a little bit putsy, but it only took me two episodes of American Idol and one episode of Royal Pains.)

My daughter's 100th day of school is today. She had to do a sash this year, and decided that she wanted to sew beads. I had her come up with the design, and then I helped sew them. For this idea, it was best to string them in sections and then sew the design together.
This is such a cute idea! Thanks so much for sharing at Mix it up Monday :)
