Pecan Pie Bars

Image
After my girls' First Communion recently, we invited the Grandparents and Godparents over to our house for a Southern Celebration! I thought it was only appropriate to take all that we loved about The South and integrate it into our new life in The North.  For the celebration, I brought out all of the Southern paraphernalia that my Atlanta friends had given me at a going away party and displayed them throughout the kitchen and dining room.   Of course, what Southern dinner would be complete without Pecan Pie?  Baked in the form of a bar, instead of a pie, these bring you all of the deliciousness of the pie - without the commitment of an entire slice! Why don't y'all try these for Thanksgiving? You'll be glad you did! All three girls celebrated their first communion recently.  We spent the day before, baking bread and tasting a passover meal.  What a sweet moment it was, when the day arrived, the girls broke the bread and served us.

Mocha Cupcakes

When it comes to coffee drinking, I'm most certainly a rookie.  Coffee, black?  No thank you.  Expresso?  Not a chance. Mocha?  Now we're talking.  Coffee that tastes, well, a little less like coffee is definitely my cup of proverbial tea.   This month's Martha Stewart's Cupcakes Club assignment was Mocha Cupcakes.... Yum! Just a taste of the batter and you know you are in for a treat.  The mixture of butter, sour cream, chocolate and extra strong coffee create a full-bodied batter that is determined to bake into something magnificent! Top off the cupcakes with a fluffy seven-minute frosting and a chocolate-covered coffee bean, and and you've got the perfect afternoon pick-me up. Don't mind if I do! This frosting recipe turns out perfectly every time. To make a mocha frosting recipe, follow the frosting recipe below and at the end, stir in a mixture of 2 tablespoon sugar 1 1/2 teaspoons cocoa powder 1...

5 Fall Favorites (The Sweet Edition)

Image
I was thinking back at some of my previous posts and thought it would be fun to recap some of the favorite things I have made in the past years.  Some things just become a classic and they are hard to top!  This  Candy Cornucopia  is a fun treat for kids of all ages.   I love the edible Horn of Plenty! We will definitely be bringing these  Oreo Turkeys  to Aunt Peggy's this year. It wouldn't be Thanksgiving without them! Whoooo wouldn't love an  Owl Cupcake ? These are simple to make and those giant eyes are just adorable! The Brown Sugar Frosting on these  Applesauce Spice Cupcakes  give them a whole different dimension! These soft  Pumpkin Cookies with Caramel Icing  remind me of the kind of cookies that my grandma used to make.  Definitely comfort food. Wishing you all a happy Wednesday! xo Rachel THIS POST MAY BE LINKED TO:  MONDAYS :    MADE BY YO...
